WAYLAND - For all of the accolades bestowed upon head coach Wayne Griffin and his North Attleboro High wrestling team this season, the Rocketeers had never staked claim to the MIAA Division 2 Dual Meet Championship.
That was until Sunday, when the Big Red took home the hardware, winning four matches in convincing fashion to add to the luster of also winning the Hockomock League dual meet title and the Hockomock League Championship Meet crown.
"It's all about the kids," said Griffin. "This was a real reflection of team competition."
North took a major step toward winning the title by beating a "well-balanced" Winchester team in its second match, then scored a decisive victory over Central Catholic.
In that match, Jordan Tillinghast (160) and Collin Fiske (152) did not win their bout, but were not pinned either, losing only by decisions. Adam Eberle took a big decision at 170 for the Rocketeers, Nick Morrison bumped up in weight class to win at 195 and Brennan Sankey decisioned the No. 2-ranked wrestler in the state in his class from Central Catholic.
